They grow up too fast!

Since the lockdown of March 2020 these have been our favourite. They have taught us to be creative and that sky is the limit for our imagination.
Honestly the whole of last year that schools have been off has been a boon for Rio and us. Not only has it helped us grow closer than ever as a family but it has made us friends. Friends that can share anything and everything.

I wanted to share an incident that happened yesterday, Rio was at grandma’s and he called me to ask if I could send his cycle over and I said I would do it tomorrow as it was late and there was no one to take it there. And he kept repeating the same thing “mama please send the cycle na” after the whole process of repeating back and forth I must’ve raised my voice, he said ok and hung up and I forgot about it.

When he came home today
he said ” Mama I have to tell you something. Like friends do.”
I said “hmm. OK go ahead. I am listening!”

He said (mind you he is just 4 years old) ” It didn’t make me feel very nice when you raised your voice on the phone yesterday. Can you not do that! ” with the calmest face I had ever seen.

And I melted into a pile of mush on the floor. I was proud of him and us and happy and sad all in that same fleeting moment. I felt so good that over the one year we had taught him enough so that he could deal with his feelings and come talk to us about it with a level head. Enough to sort through them. This was finally the moment I realized my baby is a boy now. My gosh how the years have flown by!!
